We are a school of families, not just children – a place where all members have a chance to learn and grow. Parents and younger siblings often linger in the common area for coffee, play and relaxation. Informal parent discussion groups on a variety of topics provide support for the joys and challenges of raising preschoolers.
The cooperative nature of our school means that parents are deeply involved with our children’s school experience. This results in life-long connections, not just between our children but for our parents as well. Parents assist in the classroom on a rotating basis, gaining a window into our child’s first steps outside the home.
We are a child-centered, play-based, nut-free school at which children can continue their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development in a creative, safe and exciting environment. Children are respected and allowed to grow and develop at their own rates. A broad range of materials and activities are provided to encourage children’s independence, confidence and self-expression.
Our programs include a 3-day, 5-day, Pre-K, Lunch Bunch, and June Bugs summer camp. Classrooms feel focused and purposeful, respectful and safe, calm yet stimulating. They are full of art, color, song, movement, and joy. Each day abounds with new materials and discoveries.
We offer creative movement and music specialists, and a Newton librarian visits us for cozy story times. Classes enjoy visits from outside groups such as Barnyard Babies and field trips to the farm, post office, bakery and zoo. We have an idyllic, tree-shaded outdoor space built in 2006, indoor playground for inclement weather, and a kitchen where each class can cook!
