Priscilla Howland, Director
Priscilla has been working in early childhood and elementary education for over 25 years. She received her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Boston University. Before becoming the director, Priscilla taught the 3-day class at Bowen for eight years. She lives in Belmont with her husband Mac. They are parents of three grown children - Amanda, Emily and Silas.
Jennifer Fitzpatrick, 3-Day Lead Teacher
Jen Fitzpatrick has been working with young children for many years and has been a classroom teacher for the last six years. Jen taught Pre-Kindergarten at the Chestnut Hill School in Chestnut Hill and at the Leap School in Concord. Jen attended Boston College where she earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in education and educational psychology.
Jane Ruddock, 3-Day Teaching Assistant
Jane Ruddock received her Bachelors degree in English and Education from St. Peter's College in New Jersey and her Masters in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston. She started library work in Boston and worked over 25 years in the Library Department of Arlington Public Schools. In 2006 Jane retired from full-time teaching to jump at the chance to come to the 3 day class at Bowen. Her grown daughter provided her with the opportunity to head up or serve on parent committees from pre-school to high school.
Barbara Quebec, 5-Day Lead Teacher
Barbara Quebec received her C.A.E.S. and her Masters in Education from Boston College in Chestnut Hill. She is certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education in English. Barbara taught in the Auburndale Community Nursery School before joining Bowen in 1979. She has tutored students with special needs at the Conant School in Acton, MA. Barbara worked for the Cambridge Public Schools for five years, teaching first grade.
Marjorie Dulberg, 5-Day Teaching Assistant
Margie Dulberg received her Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and has a Master’s degree in Special Education from Lesley College. Margie has worked as a special education teacher in both Weston and Natick. She was the PTO President at Mason-Rice Elementary School in Newton and has also worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Cabot Elementary School.
Cindy Mapes, TK Lead Teacher
Cindy Mapes has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Antioch College and an M.ED in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley College/Longy School of Music. She started her teaching career in the Head Start program and proceeded to teach kindergarten through eighth grade as well as music and drama at public and private schools throughout the area. She has continued to work as an early childhood music specialist and choral conductor, volunteered in the Newton schools and performed folk and original music. Cindy's two sons attended Bowen.
Paula Gannon, Music Specialist
Paula Gannon is a classically trained musician who received a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. She has spent many years performing and teaching private lessons to aspiring musicians of all ages. She provided music and movement for her son's preschool two years ago and is thrilled to share her children's repetoire with Bowen's students.
Brian Kelly, Movement Specialist
Brian Kelly, founder of Ahead of the Game, Inc., has been a physical fitness instructor for area preschools for many years. He has been coaching soccer in New Hampshire and Massachusetts with groups such as Massachusetts Youth Soccer and the Newton Soccer Club. Brian has a Bachelor's degree in Biology, a background in personal training for children, and is a member of the National Sports and Conditioning Association.
