Director's Column: Upcoming Parent Workshop
Check your mailboxes! Our first parent workshop is coming up on Wednesday, October 17th at 7pm. The theme is "Siblings Without Rivalry", based on the New York Times bestselling book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish, who also authored How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk.
This book has you examine your own experiences, childhood memories, relationships with your siblings, and how that influences your life and parenting style. It then takes you through specific situations and gives you advice on how to handle them. It is truly enlightening, and I am looking forward to a great discussion as well as tips to help my daughters, now 13 and 16, resolve their conflicts productively. Okay, full disclosure? What I'm really looking forward to is a family dinner with NO bickering! As a bonus, we will have copies of the book to take home as well as some other surprise goodies. This is certainly a workshop not to be missed. Please RSVP to Kate Nyquist at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can be sure we have enough materials for everyone! Best,
