Director's Column: Cozy sweaters, delicious donuts and Fall Fête fun!

It's been feeling a lot like Fall, at least in the classrooms! After a bit of a crazy weather week, it looks like we've finally got some Fall weather heading our way. Fall is my favorite season, especially in New England, where the leaves put on an amazing show. But the things I love most about Fall are breaking out my cozy sweaters and boots, celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving, going to a local apple orchard for cinnamon-sugar cider donuts, and, of course, the Bowen Fall Fête! I've been watching the donations come in from various local merchants, and, I don't want to give away any surprises, but suffice to say there will be some high demand items up for auction. However, our most popular auction items don't usually come from the local merchants, they come from our own community. Some of the past items that highlight the hidden talents among us have been bread of the month delivery, Indian cooking lessons, a jewelry making party, a gourmet dinner for 8, and a home organization lesson. You don't necessarily have to have a special talent to make a donation. Consider hosting a Sunday football viewing party or a wine and cheese party. Donate tickets to a local game, offer up a night out at a restaurant with babysitting or organize a champagne breakfast delivery. Feel free to get creative; if it is something you would enjoy, chances are someone else will too. I can't wait to place my bids! Best,

Nina
