3-Day: Making Connections
This week in 3-Day we read George’s favorite story Goodnight Baseball and, boy, did we pick a great week to read a book about baseball!! You may have heard your children singing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" this week! Some of us sang, “Root for the home team” and some of us sang “Root for the Red Sox”! The whole school enjoyed our song, especially, Ms. Paula!
Your children completed a two-part project as we compared two of our favorite stories, In the Dark and Goodnight Baseball. First, the children painted a black sky with sponge paint brushes. While the paint was still wet, your children very carefully sprinkled tiny glitter on the paint which looked like millions of stars. On Wednesday, we made yellow crescent moon collages with lots of yellow materials. The kids loved selecting various textured materials to paste on their moon. Caroline and I put them up on display in the hallway for you to enjoy! We will try and get them home for Halloween!
On Friday, we celebrated Scarlet’s favorite story Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. We, then, filled our discovery table with lots and lots of small plastic cats and some sensory noodles that reminded us of yarn. Speaking of yarn, Caroline and I used clothespins, yarn and tape to make our own yarn paintbrushes. The kids dipped the yarn in a variety of colored watercolors and painted away. The result was a colorful piece of art which you will find displayed in our room.
This week, we talked to the children about painting at the easel. We discussed how the yellow brush is most happy in the yellow paint cup, the blue is best in the blue paint cup, and so on. We are so proud of how well your children are listening and executing our classroom expectations. This group is pretty remarkable for being quite young!
Ariyan has turned three! We celebrated his birthday on Monday with yummy vanilla and chocolate cupcakes! We also look forward to seeing everyone’s special visitor tomorrow at 9 am in our classroom. It’s a nice opportunity for those who might not get the opportunity to spend time in our room to see what it’s all about!
Here are the words to a couple of songs we sang this week:
Take me out to the ball game
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks
I don’t care if we never get back
Let’s root, root, root for the RED SOX
If they don’t win it’s a shame….
For it’s ONE, TWO, THREE strikes you’re out
At the ol' ball game!!
5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate
The first one said, oh my it’s getting late
The second one said, there’s witches in the air
The third one said, but we don’t care!
The fourth one said, lets run and run and run
The fifth one said, isn’t Halloween fun?
Have a great weekend!
Karen and Caroline
