Director's Column: Grateful for our Bowen Community
As we head into Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to say thank you to our Bowen Community.
Thank you to the Bowen teachers for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to the children. I am consistently amazed with the thought and care they put into their curriculum, and how well they know and understand each child in their classroom. They can tell you which child loves the blue sparkly shoes in dramatic play, who needs a 2 minute warning before clean-up, who makes a beeline for the tire swing as soon as they enter the playground, which child loves strawberries but not banana, who needs a potty reminder, and a million other little details. I cannot say enough about what an incredible group of teachers we have and how thankful I am to have them at Bowen.
Thank you to the Bowen children for making every day fun and rewarding. My favorite times of the day are when I am in a classroom. Last week, I sat in 3-Day and helped build playgrounds for woodland creatures, then, at the children's request, made sure each creature got a turn on the swing. In 5-Day, I had to make sure to evenly split my time between all three snack tables, where I was taught how to make graham cracker and strawberry sandwiches. In Pre-K, the children and I tried to guess how long it would take to count to nine thousand and decided it would take "a million billion seconds".
Last, but not least, thank you to the Bowen families for making our school community so special. You support the school and the teachers in so many ways, but also seeing how much you support each other makes me so incredibly thankful that I get to be a part of this community.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Best,
Nina
